Journeys on mountains are mind bowing, chilling, refreshing and life changing! Who hasn’t dreamed of experiencing the snow, river crossings, slush and sand with a 4×4 vehicle!

Mountain Journeys 4×4 adventures brings to you the unique opportunity to experience driving the scenic but tough terrains around Himalayas. We take you to dream locations with the much needed support, guidance and opportunity for lots of learning experiences from the professionals.

As a result of almost 20 years hard work by BRO, now we have road connectivity between Lahaul (HP) and Zanskar (Ladakh) valleys. It is currently motor-able for 4×4 vehicles, that too, depending on possible obstacles due to the weather conditions. The road crosses the highest motor-able pass in Lahaul- Shinku La at 16,615 ft.
A drive in this pristine, untouched, lonely route is an experience of a lifetime. We take advantage of a small window of favourable time before the pass gets shut with snow and slides for more than 8 months.

Jispa - Kurgiakh

Theoretically it is 66 km distance, but better not measure this leg in kilometers . Highest motor-able pass of Lahaul & Spiti- Shinku La, at 16,615 ft. welcomes you to Ladakh. Not many have taken this only motor able crossing from South side to Ladakh, other than the trekkers and locals of Zanskar valley who cross over on foot.

With a number of river crossings and off-road patches, further stretch to Kurgiakh is treat to the 4x4s.
Camping location is a beautiful ground near Kurgiakh.

Day 4
Kurgiakh - Purni

Almost done with the river crossings, this stretch passes through few remote villages and you follow the river to reach Purni.
The remote and picturesque Phugtal monastery is almost two hours trek from Purni. Depending on the timing and circumstances, it may be an option to do this trek. But it could go into our wish list for the next time.

Day 5
Purni - Padum

Don’t get carried away by the WRC feel of sandy roads that leads to Padum! MUNEY and BARDAN Gompas greet us on the way. The ground beneath Bardan Gompa is a place worth taking a break at, before reaching Padum, the district head quarters of Zanskar.
Visit Karsha Gompa and feel the mesmerising view of the valley and mountains from the altitude…

Day 6
Padum - Rangdum

Off-road never ends! Few kilometres from Padum, say bye bye to tarmac and reach Rangdum for the next halt. Rangdum Gompa is worth a visit.

Day 7

You do approximately 100 Km more off road and catch the tarmac stretch towards Kargil.

Day 8
